Urologic Pathology

Urologic Pathology Section supports clinical, educational, and academic activities in the area of genitourinary pathology.

Annually over 170 nephrectomies, >200 prostatectomies and >190 cystectomies are evaluated.  Diverse kidney specimens include enucleation of small renal masses, partial nephrectomies as well as complex resections and cytoreductive nephrectomies.  Most cystectomies are performed with extended lymph node dissections.  Since 2014, MRI guided fusion prostate fusion biopsies have been performed.

Regular schedule of genitourinary tumor board meetings includes urologists, pathologists, radiologists, oncologists, and radiation therapy specialists.

Educational activities support the Pathology and Urology Residency programs as well as Fellowships in Surgical Pathology, Urologic Oncology, Endourology and Robotic Surgery, Male Pelvic Health, and Genitourinary reconstruction.
